Mets (16-16) Rays (15-18) 7:15 PM FOX
The New York Mets are set to rally behind rookie pitcher Christian Scott.
Scott has been great for the Syracuse Mets over his first five starts, posting a 3-0 record with a 3.20 ERA and 36 strikeouts. Over Scott’s career in the minor leagues he has 45 appearances and has a record of 11-7 with a 3.30 ERA and 221 strikeouts. The biggest concern for Scott during his time in Syracuse this year is the home runs. Scott has given up at least one home run in each of his five starts this year. Potentially prone to the long ball, but Scott does not allow free passes and most of these home runs have only been solo shots.
For the Rays Zack Littell will take the mound. In six appearances this year Littell has a record of 1-2 with an ERA of 3.27 and 35 strikeouts. He goes after hitters, as he has not given up a walk in his last three starts. Littell is primarily a breaking ball pitcher using his slider and split-finger 56% of the time. His breaking run value and walk percentage is among the highest in the major leagues, and does not give up hard hit balls. He has faced the Mets a few times and is 0-1 with an ERA of 1.29 and 8 strikeouts in 6 appearances versus the Mets in his career.
Following a rest day for Lindor due to an illness, he has came back swinging the bat hot. In just the last two games Lindor has three hits and six RBIs, one of which included a game winning double. Francisco has seemed to turn his season around, which leaves us with one question. Is it important for Lindor to take more rest days than usual? He is the type of player that wants to play every day every inning, but the season is a very long one and Lindor could benefit from have an off day every now and then.
