Was that the least stressful game of all time? Mets breeze past Royals in Game 1

Brett Baty and other NY Mets third basemen drafted in the first round

Mets 6 (6-7) Royals 1 (9-5)

The New York Mets set a statement in game 1 of the weekend series against the Royals.

Luis Severino was incredible tonight going after every hitter in the Royals lineup. While he has not yet pitched past the 5th inning Severino has been impressive to start the season. Over 5 innings pitched tonight Severino managed to only give up 1 hit and 1 run striking out 4 batters.

Enough can not be said about the turn around the offense has had. With 6 runs scored the Mets managed to have 14 hits against one of the most respectable pitchers in all of baseball. Jeff McNeil continues to improve, Brandon Nimmo stays hot, and Pete Alonso continues to do what he does.

The most impressive player as of late for the Mets has been Brett Baty. For a guy who comes into the season wondering if he will have a spot on this roster, the turn around since then has been nothing short of amazing. Baty recorded 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and 1 run to continue his hot streak. He is now batting .311 on the season with a .773 OPS.
