The New York Mets have swept the Pittsburgh Pirates and have now moved to two games above .500.
For the third straight day the Mets have answered the Pirates scoring with some help from familiar faces. Starling Marte put the Mets on the board in 3rd with a two run home run to give them a one run lead and to cap the game off Brandon Nimmo singles into left field to score two and really broke it open from there.
Two players worth noting that are new to the Mets that have been playing huge roles for this ball club, Harrison Bader and Tyrone Taylor, have both been incredible this year for the Mets. Bader has been amazing holding down the center field spot and has came up clutch late in this series, including a two run home run today. Tyrone Taylor continues to shine in his role with the team and has been becoming a fan favorite over the course of this early season.
Severino was great for the Mets giving them 6 innings pitched with 4 strikeouts and 0 earned runs. He continues to show Mets fans that he can be a dominant pitcher any day of the week. He has gotten better every start this year and will look to continue his success and most importantly stay healthy throughout the course of the season.
