NYM (Manaea) vs KC (Marsh) 4/13 1:40 PM

The red hot Mets look to win their third straight series in a row this afternoon.

Sean Manaea will take the bump for his third start of the season. Manaea has pitched very well in the early part of the season. He has a record of 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA and 14 strikeouts. Last night the Mets kept a consistent Royals lineup quiet and Manaea will look to keep them in check. Manaea has had 5 apperances against the Royals over his career, mostly with the Oakland Athletics. He has a record of 2-1 with an ERA of 4.61 and 26 strikeouts against the Royals.

For the Royals Alec Marsh is set to pitch. In his first start this year against the Orioles Marsh was dealing. He ended u pitching 7 innings only giving up 1 run and striking out 5. Marsh carries a 3.09 ERA this season with a 1-0 record striking out 8 over his first two games. He pitched against the Mets last August when the team was in Kansas City but only for one inning.

Keys to the Game

The Mets offense is going to have to jump on early pitches, something they have been doing well over the last week. Alec Marsh does not walk a lot of batters and is looking to pound the zone to get ahead of the count. In a short sample size he has only 2 walks in his first two starts and it is very important for the Mets to jump on Marsh early to make him uncomfortable.
