Mets (3-6) vs Braves (6-2)
After a much needed series win against the Cincinnati Reds the Mets find themselves in a crucial four game set versus the first place Atlanta Braves. The Braves are coming off of a series sweep against the Arizona Diamondbacks where the bats played a huge part scoring 20 runs over three games.
As rough of a start that Mets fans can remember they have won three out of the last four due to great starting pitching and early runs. They find themselves only 3.5 games out of first place in the division and 2 games out of the final wild card spot in the early part of the season.
Tonight’s pitching match up will be one to keep an eye on, as the Mets look to continue strong efforts from the starting rotation. Julio Teheran will be making his Mets debut later today where he started his MLB career back in 2011 with Atlanta. Another veteran arm for the Mets who has a career record of 81-82, 3.83 ERA, and 1257 strikeouts.
Charlie Morton (1-0) is who the Mets will face on the other end. Morton who has had success against the Mets carries a 6-6 record with an ERA of 3.58 and 120 strikeouts in 22 appearances against the Mets over his career. In recent years however the Mets have been able to get Morton to a high pitch count early and capitalize in key moments. They will look to do the same as this can be a tone setter for the rest of the series.
