The New York Mets face a familiar face in the final game of this four game series.
Former Met Taijuan Walker will get the start for the Phillies. Walker initially opened the season on the 15-day injured list with an impingement in his right shoulder, but has made his return in late April. In his first three starts of the year Walker has an ERA of 4.82 with 15 strikeouts over 18 and 2/3rds innings pitched. Against the Mets in his career he has a record of 1-3 with an ERA of 3.24 and 23 strikeouts in 6 appearances.
For the Mets Jose Quintana will take the hill, as he looks to improve from his previous two starts. In those two starts in the month of May Quintana has given up 12 earned runs over 16 hits. On the season he has a record of 1-4 with an ERA of 5.44 and 28 strikeouts. Quintana as like the rest of the starting rotation has been plagued with walks, however over his last two starts he has only walked a combined three batters. He has been unable to locate pitches since his 8 inning performance against the Cardinals, but will have an opportunity this evening to get back on track.
The Mets offense has really been struggling over the last two series. Over the last seven days their have been four every day starters that are batting well below .200 and have struck out a combined 15 times. Those players are Marte, McNeil, Lindor, and Nimmo. All four have really been struggling not just the last seven days but the whole entire season. Lindor and Nimmo have had their moments in big spots, but still have not shown any consistency.
Brandon Nimmo has gotten extremely unlucky this whole entire season. On Baseball Savant, Nimmo is ranked in the 90th percentile in average exit velocity, hard-hit percentage, LA Sweet-Spot percentage, and slugging. The numbers have not shown over the last week, but Nimmo is bound to go on a hot streak in the near future.
