The New York Mets lose to the Cardinals 7-4 in the second game of the series.
Another embarrassing outing from Adrian Houser who looks completely lost. Houser could not make it out of the 5th inning giving up 6 earned runs on 9 hits, with his ERA now at 8.37. At some point you have to think he is the first one gone once Peterson or Megill are finished with rehab starts. The question is can the Mets afford to wait until then?
It is hard to not point out the lack of production from Lindor in the first month of the season. Lindor had a rough day at the plate striking out four times and popping out to end the game with the bases loaded. This is by far the worst start to a season in his career and he will get going at some point this season, but will it be too late? His average currently sits at .198, .656 OPS, and 0.4 WAR.
On a positive note, Pete Alonso hit his 200th career home run as he is catching up to Mike Piazza who had 220 home runs with the Mets. Pete is the 4th all time Met home run leader who is now only 52 behind the current leader Darryl Strawberry (252). A record that is primed to be broken if the Mets can swing a well deserved contract in Alonso’s direction.
