Webb Embarrasses Mets Offense – SF Giants Game 2

The New York Mets lose the second game of the series 5-1 thanks to a Logan Webb masterpiece.

In a 162 game season there are certainly highs and lows, today so happened to be one of the lows. Logan Webb went 8 innings giving up no runs while striking out 4. Virtually every Met batter could not put good contact on anything that Webb threw, except for Marte who continues to stay hot with two hits added today.

Francisco Lindor continues to struggle with runners in scoring position. He came up twice tonight for a chance to bring a runner home and did not capitalize. He is now 3-37 with runners in scoring position on the season. It is going to be very hard for Mets fans to continue positive reinforcement this weekend if this is what Lindor does the rest of this season.

Severino had a perfect game going into the 5th inning, but a few weak hits from the Giants brought home 3 runs and with the way Webb was pitching it was going to be very hard to come back. He finished with 5 strikeouts in 6 innings pitched.

The Mets will look to break the ice tomorrow to finish .500 on the west coast trip before heading home to play a weekend series against the Saint Louis Cardinals.
