Mets vs Dodgers 4/21 4:10 PM
Adrian Houser 0-1, 4.70 ERA, 9 SO
Tyler Glasnow 3-1, 3.72 ERA, 34 SO
The New York Mets are looking for their 7th straight win to complete the sweep against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Todays pitching matchup is going to be one to keep a close eye on. Superstar pitcher for the Dodgers Tyler Glasnow will look to keep the Mets lineup in check. His last start was a bit of an off day for him as Glasnow gave up six earned runs to the Washington Nationals. In his first two starts of the season Glasnow only gave up three earned runs and struck out 21 batters. He has faced the Mets 7 times in the past mostly with the Pittsburgh Pirates and is 1-2 with an ERA of 4.82 and 28 strikeouts.
Adrian Houser will trot out to the mound this afternoon for the Mets. Houser has looked impressive to start with only one hiccup this season against the Braves. It is going to be crucial for Houser to find different avenues for getting this Dodger lineup out. Weak contact is the name of the game for Houser who is in the 89th percentile for ground-ball rate among pitchers in the league. David Sterns loves to have a mix group of arms in the rotation and today will be a nice change of pace for the Mets with a low ball pitcher in Houser ready to help complete the sweep.
Keys to the Game:
Mets are going to have to jump on the first pitch. Glasnow throws a lot of fastballs and averages out at 96.4 MPH. According to baseball savant he throws his fastball 53.2% of the time in his starts, which tells us that he likes to jump on hitters quick and use his devastating slider to put away batters. Jumping on first pitch fastball will be the key for the Mets to have a successful day at the plate.
